UrPharm Upgrades App to Ease Drugs Accessibility in Africa

Dr. Leslie Asanga, CEO

UrPharm, a groundbreaking mobile application, is set to launch its upgraded version 2.0 this July. The app aims to help combat the proliferation of counterfeit medications in Sub-Saharan Africa by providing easy access to authentic life-saving medicines. UrPharm's platform connects users with licensed pharmacies, making it easy for people in the diaspora to search, find, and pay for medications and groceries for their loved ones in Cameroon.

The UrPharm app has been tested for two years and has successfully overcome challenges of stock and price ranges. According to UrPharm's CEO, Mr. Leslie Asanga, "Our biggest goal at UrPharm is to be able to increase access to authentic medication and give people options so they can avoid a lot of street medications. That is one of the reasons why we only connect licensed pharmacies on our platform." He was speaking at a conference innovative, tech-based access to life-saving medications, in the US Embassy in Yaoundé.

The app has gained popularity due to its user-friendly interface and the ability to locate pharmacies that have the required medication in stock. "Through the UrPharm mobile app, users can locate pharmacies that have the medications that they need in stock at that moment. Cameroonians in the diaspora can also use the app to purchase medications from licensed pharmacies for their loved ones here in Cameroon," said Mary Daschbach, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy.

UrPharm's upgraded version 2.0 will offer increased functionality, including the incorporation of stores and supermarkets. This feature will enable clients to purchase foodstuff and other items, making it advantageous for both the diaspora and Cameroonians to avoid the exorbitant charges placed on money transfers. The app will display opening and closing hours of the various pharmacies and offer a 10% reduction for purchasers.

UrPharm has partnered with local supermarkets and supply chains to ensure that clients can search for items, purchase them, and get them delivered to their doorstep or pick them up. The available payment methods include PayPal, VisaCard, Mobile Money, and Orange Money. UrPharm also gets a 6% commission on every purchase of drugs and groceries made from the diaspora, and every referral has a bonus displayed on the app.

The app's concern for the health and well-being of its users is evident, as dangerous drugs like tramadol and other narcotics have been taken off the platform in a bid to help combat drug abuse. Payments are made to the pharmacies every Sunday, after the clients have picked up their drugs. UrPharm is taking steps to include payment of consultation fees as well, alongside the options of medications and grocery purchases.

In conclusion, UrPharm is revolutionizing the way people in the diaspora purchase medications and groceries for their loved ones in Cameroon. Its upgraded version 2.0 will offer increased functionality and user-friendliness, making it easier for clients to purchase authentic life-saving medicines and groceries. UrPharm's commitment to only connect licensed pharmacies on its platform and its concern for the health and well-being of its users make it a game-changer in the healthcare industry.
