The capital city Yaounde, is set to host the much-anticipated Kesughu Wum Fundraising Arts And Cultural Festival from the 20th to the 22nd of July 2023, at the Yaounde Conference Centre. This festival, which promises to be a captivating cultural showcase, will bring together people from all walks of life to celebrate the rich heritage of Kesughu - Wum, a community in Cameroon.
During a press lunch held on Thursday the 18th of May 2023, Professor Kelly Mua Kingsly, the president of the organizing committee, expressed his excitement about the upcoming festival. He said that the festival aims to expose the unique arts, culture, dance, and food of Kesughu - Wum to Cameroonians and the world at large. In addition, the festival will raise funds for the reconstruction of the fon's palace, as well as the creation of a recreation and vocational training center for the youth in the community.
"It is essential that we involve the population in the growth of their community," Professor Kingsly emphasized. "The state cannot do everything alone, and it is difficult for the government to carry out equal development across the entire nation. Therefore, it is expedient that the people take the initiative and start projects that will expose their towns, divisions, and villages before asking for assistance from others."
The Kesughu Wum Fundraising Arts and Cultural Festival is not just about raising funds, but it is also about celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Kesughu - Wum. The festival will feature various cultural displays, including traditional dances, songs, and folklore. Visitors will also get to enjoy delicious local cuisine and experience the warm hospitality of the people of Kesughu - Wum.
The president of the organizing committee and his team are committed to the bottom-to-top approach to development. They believe that the people of Kesughu - Wum have a lot of untapped potential, especially in the tourism sector. By showcasing their unique cultural heritage, the festival will attract more visitors to the community, leading to economic growth and development.
The personal representative of the Kesughu- Wum fon, Right Honorable Buhmbi, Chief Desmond, Jean Marie Abonganina, and some members of the community were present during the press lunch. They expressed their gratitude to the organizing committee for their efforts in promoting the community's rich cultural heritage.
The media was also urged to play an active role in promoting the event to ensure its success. The Kesughu Wum Fundraising Arts and Cultural Festival promises to be an event to remember, and all are invited to come and enjoy the festivities while supporting a worthy cause.
