Yesterday June 08, marked a special day in the history of the Aghem people. It is the ACADA Founders Day, and Rev Dr. José Set Aji-Mvo, is honored to remind us of the significance of this day. He was Founding President of ACADA (1991-2000)
On this day, back in 1991, the Aghem Cultural And Development Association (ACADA) was established, bringing together various groups with a shared goal of promoting unity, heritage, and development. ACADA is the culmination of several organizations, including the Wum Welfare Societies, Aghem Welfare Organization, Aghem Cultural Movement, Aghem Cultural Association (ACA), and Aghem Development Committee (ADC).
The ACADA Motto, "Unity, Heritage, and Development," has been instrumental in bringing together members and groups, both locally and internationally, to work towards a common goal of preserving and promoting Aghem cultural traditions and symbolism.
ACADA's inclusive structure recognizes and incorporates various groups, including village associations, Aghem defamily communities, activity and interest groups, and gender groups. This structure allows for collaboration with specialized agencies and ensures that the collective will and general desires of all Aghems are fulfilled.
In celebration of the special day, Rev. Aji-Mvo reminded us that “our identity as Aghem people is marked by our language, land, lore, law, and love”. These are the pillars that guide us and protect us from self-destruction and external extermination.
On behalf of the founding members of ACADA, Aji-Mvo invites all Aghems and well-wishers to rally in celebrating this momentous occasion. Let us continue to work together towards a brighter future for our people and our beloved land.
Amen.
